TORRANCE PRAISES LONDON GOLF SHOW 2005

Former Ryder Cup-winning captain Sam Torrance has backed the "fantastic" London Golf Show.
The amiable Scot, whose charges famously lifted the Ryder Cup at The Belfry in 2002, enthused about the inaugural staging of the London Golf Show: "It's fantastic for anyone who loves golf. There is so much to see and do and it really is a great show."

Former women's British and US Open champion Alison Nicholas also added her support to the show, held at the ExCeL Centre in London Docklands, for 'involving the public'.
The glowing endorsement came after Alison sampled the unique atmosphere of the show.
Alison said: "The show is great and the important thing is that it involves the public.
"I've been to quite a lot of trade shows and there is no interaction with the public, and that is important for people who play golf."
Alison, who won the women's British Open in 1987 and the American version 10 years later, was at the show on behalf of the McSport Group, which produces the MacWet golf glove.
"I've got quite a bit of time on my hands now since I retired," said Gibraltar-born Nicholas (43), a two-time Solheim Cup winner who played on the women's European Tour for 20 years.
"But I still keep involved in golf through clinics and visiting exhibitions like the London Golf Show."
Torrance acknowledged Nicholas' retirement was a blow to British women's golf.
"Alison has done a huge amount for ladies' golf in Britain," said the affable Scot. "In fact, Alison and Laura Davies have been the pioneers for the English game.
"She will be missed on the ladies' scene."

Dear Christine

I just thought I'd let you know that my husband and I had a great time at the Golf Show yesterday. The atmosphere was great and to top it all, just as we were about to leave the show, we were accosted by a member of the team from the GolfPunk Magazine stand. He said that if we agreed to subscribe to the magazine for a year, we would be the winners of a motorised golf trolley. So out of the blue I am the proud owner of a Motocaddy!! We had actually been looking at these types of trolleys during the show and had decided that we couldn't afford one yet. However, since starting to play golf again after my operation, I've found our hilly course a bit taxing and have been thinking that it would be nice to own one.

So it's thanks to you Christine that I won the Motocaddy because if I hadn't won the tickets earlier in the year, I probably wouldn't have visited the Golf Show.
