Away Days - October 2008

St Pierre Golf & Country Club, Chepstow, Monmouthshire
Jean Marshall (Tewkesbury Park's Vice Captain!) and Lorna Slatter take literally the written instructions to "bring your swimming costumes and drinks" and to meet up for the usual pre-dinner drink.

Jean (left of picture) was the eventual winner!!

Michelle Frain and Jenny Williams tuck in to the delicious evening meal.........not much left on Jenny's plate and we lost count as to how many times the wine glass was filled........

Denise Clayson and Christine Williams pose for their usual "Founder Members'" photo - they haven't missed an "Away Day" since 1995.   (It just takes longer to get ready in the evening now!)

A beautiful Autumnal Day in 2007 at Tewkesbury Park.

The Saturday girls enjoy a half time rest in the sun!
Away Days - June 2007

at Menzies Welcombe,
Stratford-upon-Avon

Nearly all present and correct on the 1st tee
with the rainsuits at the ready.
The beautiful Jacobean Hotel
in the heart of Shakespeare country.

The golf course is superb and challenging.

Yep!
It was very severe........my ball is probably still nestling there
to this day!
The group all scrubbed up for the evening wearing their party frocks.

A game of "fuzzy duck" followed .........if you don't know how to play the game try saying "fuzzy duck" after a couple of drinks!
Away Days - June 2006
at Wokefield Park, Reading.

All present and correct on the second day - no sore heads!!
The bunkers are huge and are strageically placed on the fairways.

But one never lost one's temper when one's ball became entrapped in the bunkers............
Luckily we didn't have to use the lifebuoy .........but we were secretly hoping that Helen might have lost her balance.........the camera was ready!

Karen on the left hands the trophy to Denise who was the winner..........although the rest of us sighed with relief when we lost because the winner always organises the trip for the next year!
Away Days - August 2005
at Breadshall Priory Marriott Hotel & Country Club, nr Derby, Derbyshire.

A group photo on the 2nd day and, would you believe, no-one feeling hung-over!!
Christine drives off an elevated tee at Breadshall Priory. (She hadn't forgotton her shoes - they are proper golf sandals - visit www.ladygolfer.uk.com to buy)

A lovely mature course that will leave you wanting to return. There are two courses, Championship Priory and the Moorland Course.

The service at the Hotel was superb and the food was scrumptious.

Recommended!
Ann gets to grips with opening the bottle of wine whilst Linda hopes that none will be spilt!
Christine and Denise, two founder members proudly have their photos taken as they haven't missed a Business Ladies Weekend Away since it started in 1995.    Only an increase in their ages and handicaps to show for it.
Away Days - August 2004
at Hellidon Lakes Golf & Country Club, Daventry.

Looking from the Club House towards the 18th green.

A party of 16 ladies descended on Hellidon.

First day's golf was good - next day's golf - not quite so good.
I wonder why?!

Sunday night was recorded as being the warmest night in Great Britain - our excuse for drinking so much and staying up so late!

Sara, always prepared,
opens the cool box.
A society of men who happened to be staying, showed us their trophy.

It was quite popular with the girls!!

The morning after the night before - and it was raining!

Away Days - August 2003 at the Bransford Golf Club, Worcester.   Looking back towards the Bank House Hotel.
Sally Morgan, our eventual winner, tees off at one of the few holes where there weren't any water hazards!
It goes without saying that we do "let our hair down" in the evening.
   Fiona admires Sue's new dentures!
Our group of 16 ladies from Tewkesbury Park
- click on the picture for a bigger picture.
Jan Corlett, the Business Ladies Representative presents Sally with the trophy.   The eagle eye'd will notice it is a salt pot (the proper trophy still languishing in someone's house!)
February 2003

Vicky Watkins says goodbye to some of her friends when she leaves Tewkesbury Park to join Broadway Golf Club
Away Days - August 2002
at the Vale of Glamorgan Hotel, Golf & Country Club,
Hensol Park, nr Cardiff.

The group of ladies from Tewkesbury Park Hotel & Golf Club congregate
on the first tee.
The Vale of Glamorgan's picturesque 5th green
which is a par 5.
Vale of Glamorgan.
This green is on an island, no wonder its Stroke Index 1 for the ladies!
Yet more water awaits your approach shot to the 18th green at the Vale of Glamorgan.
Vicky, Denise and Claire were only feeding the ducks, honest!
Dinner in the restaurant and Linda Marsh and Maria Burton sample the delights of the "low calorie" chocolate dessert!
We even had the Lady Mayoress of Gloucester, Sally Morgan, in our group this year!
Claire Owen receives the winner's Vase for 2002
from Christine Williams.
We all enjoyed reminding her that the winner has to organise next year's Away Day!
Looking out from the Vale of Glamorgan's Hotel at the setting sun over the 18th green.

Away Days 2001 -
The Abbey Hotel, Redditch.

This is the 18th hole.   Across the fairway lies a ditch which is just within distance of a ladies' drive!
Sara Foster assists Jan Nichols with her overnight luggage!
The three founder members, Liz Wall, Christine Williams and Denise Clayson who haven't missed a Business Ladies Weekend Away since it started in 1995, take a pre-dinner aperitif.
We told Lesley Myles that she couldn't have a free drop and the ball must be played where it lies!

Sarah Minshull survived!
Sara Foster brought along some wigs.   Helen Garston seems happy with her blonde wig but Sara's not so happy with her's!
Which suits Caroline Ellis best?   Blonde or brunette?
No contest really!!
2001
Christine Williams, the Business Ladies Representative, presents Caroline Ellis with the Vase.  Each year the winner of the Weekend Away has to organise it for the following year.
This makes us wonder whether some of the players purposely miss that winning putt!
Hangover or sunbathing - you choose!!
The group photo taken on the verandah of the Abbey Hotel, August 2001, following another successful
weekend away.
